Artist Profile

Kathryn Jayne is a UK-based Installation, Performance and Alchemical Artist. Their evolving practice is centred on the soul’s journey through cycles of death and rebirth, honouring the body as a vessel for transmutation and sacred meaning-making. In both their artistic and curatorial work, Jayne explores how spaces both physical, energetic, and imagined, can be consciously created to support deep emotional navigation and spiritual return.

Rooted in lived experiences of pilgrimage across Egypt, Glastonbury, Sainte-Baume, and Aotearoa, Jayne gathers etheric keys from sacred sites and elemental presences, translating these subtle transmissions into tactile and immersive works. Their installations are temples of transition, void spaces, thresholds, tombs, where audiences are invited to encounter themselves, to descend, dissolve, and re-emerge.

Influenced by artistic periods such as Romanticism, Gothic, Baroque, and Surrealism, as well as contemporary performance and postmodern practices, Jayne weaves historical and esoteric threads through their work. They are particularly drawn to artists who embody transformation through ritual and the body, including Marina Abramović, Bill Viola, Nicola L., and William Blake. These references inform a practice that is both deeply embodied and symbolically charged, where gesture, form, texture, and light become portals for the sacred.

As an emerging curator, Jayne holds a vision of exhibitions as sites of activation: living, breathing spaces that allow both artist and audience to move through personal and collective cycles of becoming. Their curatorial approach is informed by the same intentions as their art-making, creating accessible sacred spaces for others to remember, release, and return to themselves.
